John The Bassman Baxter

A retired person, based in Seaham, Co.Durham, who likes to travel, and takes his pro video camera ( a Canon XF-100) with him, whatever the occasion. I enjoy making this stuff, but never take a penny for it, just hope the viewer enjoys, and perhaps learn from where I have been. I am not sponsored by anyone and all of my costs, hotels, flights etc. are met by me personally, and that way I can retain total independence
IsleOfWight20242025
A short video of the island, on a coach tour. Most of the narration is done by Dave, the coach driver, who has little Dave driving so he can explain where we are, and what we see, and includes a couple of shots of the Needles, and a short walkabout of Yarmouth. What you don't see is it's very windy, and very cold,

Christmas Cruise 2023
Переглядів 177Рік тому
By way of a change, we decided to try Christmas away from home. The idea was to record some of the ship, and then the 5 ports of call. Unfortunately this did not happen, and, due to contracting Novovirus, was made to quarantine in my cabin from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day evening, so missed the celebrations. Still got all this though

A coach trip around the island, on a December day. It was made difficult by the fog, and the mists around the coasts, but, managed to get this. Recorded on Saturday 2nd December 2023, and it rained solid for two days after this
Moors & Christians Benidorm 2023
Переглядів 202Рік тому
A fiesta that takes place in Benidorm at the end of every Sept-Oct, this tells of the battles between the Moors and Christians throughout Spain. Historically set in the early 1500's, it follows the conflict right up to the Peace Parley, when a truce is negotiated, and the Moors leave the Town. Unfortunately, the best laid plans and weeks of research, fell apart when I fell within 1 hour of arri...
Two Centre Holiday including Chester & Blackpool Zoos
Переглядів 39Рік тому
Originally done as a holiday 'snapshot' video, I was asked to expand it a little and make it into a published version of the visits, as they would be of interest to many people. So, here is Southport, Chester Zoo, Blackpool North Shore, and Blackpool Zoo. Enjoy
Seaham Carnival 23 part
Переглядів 415Рік тому
This years carnival has been a plethora of problems. The site footprint had to be made smaller, so that meant no 'big' rides for the 'big people', and less available for free rides for the little ones. To compound all of this the weather came at us with a vengeance, wiping half of one day off with rain, and strong winds on the second so stalls and inflatables had to be cut out Being the people ...

Great video hope your well, met you in benidorm in October
I remember. I do try. Thanks for the comment
Great video mate. Also very nice to see my old Coastguard Team practising their rope skills. The chances are I may have been on the top of that rope acting as Adrian's ( the lad making the decent on the rope) safety. The lad located on the top of the cliff was our S.O ( station officer ) Justin...Awesome video, Thanks
Really pleased you enjoyed the video, though, in honesty, the Coastguard sequence was a case of right place at the right time. Standing down the amphitheatre when the "victim" was thrown down the cliff. frightened the crap out of me, till I realised it was a dummy, so, took full advantage of the situation. This was one of my earlier ones with the pro gear too.. Once again, thanks for the comment
This video is one of a trio where the upgraded conversion software caused the picture to show 'bubbling' and shimmering. I have since reverted to the original conversion program
This video is also affected by the conversion software and shows bubbling and ghosting on the picture. I have since reverted back to the original software.
This video, together with two others have a 'blistering effect' on parts of the pictures, and have traced the problem to the conversion software (MXF to MP4) on some upgraded to Pro program, I have since reverted back to the original software
Hello, I just finished watching your videos, and I have to say, your content is fantastic!💕 I believe your videos could reach an even wider audience with some improvements. I have analyzed your channel and identified some areas where changes could increase your viewership, subscriber count, and overall channel performance. If you're interested, I'd happily share it with you!
Thanx for recording us John. I was one of the Rock Choir members you were talking to beforehand x
My pleasure
Heading there in 27 days time cannot wait!
Beer is good, food is good, life is good. Win, win
Just come back from salou 23 june 2024 what a fantastic place.
@@markpower4831 it really is, will be out there soon to do the bits I missed this time
LOl i was there that day.
Was my first time there, so bound to have missed stuff. Good excuse to go again though
Great video going there for the third time next month in June great place
Carried the herrington banner a number of times, its a privilege and an honour, long may it continue, youngie.
Didn't they vote the Torys in? They should have got Jacob Rees Mogg as their top speaker.
Not a single Tory in sight, it’s a Labour Day
Footnote, other than a lavaTORY
I love Seaham, Durham. Thank you for video! ❤
You are more than welcome. Hope you enjoyed it
Recovering slowly. The cast now off and just strappings on now. Three broken fingers, 5 broken metacarpals, bruised ribs, and other stuff like multiple bruises. It was worth it to capture this though. Thanks for the subscription
Wow is that all 😂 hope it all gets better soon .
Brilliant video's even though you were injured well done . I was talking to you at Benidorm and have subscribed. I felt I had to really because looking through your video's my wife and I are on two of them haha...keep up the good work.
Am well on in recovery, the cast is now finger splints. Really pleased you like it
Out again end September to do the festival properly with proper gear, and non slip footwear
Had a great time i was walking in the parade behind the bearpark and esh winning banner with my friend becca and her friend charlie because beccas dad and brother were carrying the banner
Always a great day out
Nice video! When visiting another city or country, every educated person must visit a museum. Visiting museums is very useful and fascinating. A love for the "eternal" and "beautiful" is awakened in a person, the beginnings of greatness and respect for history are inculcated. It is impossible to turn the excursion into something banal, ordinary and boring. The person should be a comprehensively developed person, cultured, educated, critically and analytically thinking, with knowledge of foreign languages. It is the knowledge of a foreign language that opens wide prospects for a person to realize his/her creative potential, career and financial growth. I would like to recommend the practical training course by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language", where you can find lots of useful information how to learn a foreign language quickly. Learn a foreign language and realize your creative potential on an international scale! The international community needs creative ideas! Thanks to the author of the channel for a very fascinating tour!
The rain didn't stop us from having a great day! Marched with Felling this year and we'll be back next year.
I hope it’s even bigger next year, but not the raindrops
Power to the unions and all you lovely people ✊✊
YOU ARE SO GREAT !!! You know ALL the music in the GALA !!
Played in various bands there in the past, nearly 50 years of attendance
Can't wait to for this year's one tomorrow
I’ll be there…..

good one
My Grandfather was originally from South Shields, then settled here, in Northern Ireland after the war. My aunt, (his daughter, my mum's sister) then moved there about 40 years ago, along with one of her friends from here, and her cousin. We used to go and visit her during the summer for our holidays during the mid 80s to early 90s. I loved going to South Shields but haven't been there for so many years now, I really would love to go back again.
It is a really nice place to be , and I enjoyed making the video, even though it was made at the very end of lockdown, and restrictions had just been lifted. It’s still very much the same today. Many thanks for your comment.
Well done John...A sad part of history that should never be allowed to be forgotten...!
It was basically a slave labour camp next door. It had a very famous inmate when aged 8 to 10. Roman Polanski
Frank, try my video of Krakow Two, which has a tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau, made last year while there
I watched 5 videos in total John, is Krakow 2 a different video.?
There are only 5 in that series so you must have seen them all. It’s a big story, but don’t know when or if I’m next there
That looks nice, A bit short, there must be more to explore 🤔😅
There is a lot to see, but my time was very limited, so made a taster for people to go and visit
It looks like I’m on my way there again the end of March with another angle
Hello John, just seen your video. My sister has moved near to Seaham and visits twice a week, so nice to se where she has been talking about. I guess from your 'handle@ John the Bassman you are a fisherman. I am looking to visit my sister and Seaham this year and wondered where fishing is allowed. Looking forward to seeing more videos on youtube.
The Bassman handle comes from my bass guitar playing, and brass band bass playing. Fishing is allowed, there is a angling club on the front who has access to the piers( weather permitting), but beach fishing is popular. Check out Seaham Sea Angling Club
Tourist. This was my first ever visit there, So I viewed it as other first time visitors would, with no preconceived ideas or targets.
Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. Are you a tourist or a resident?
I really appreciate your comment. I’m only a tourist, and this was my first time there, that way I had no pre conceived ideas or expectations. I’m returning in end of March to look at a different angle.
And, true to form, I’m here now (28th March)
Merci, John! Precious and delicious...
Ah! So cool to see from an outside perspective!
Just stayed here for the second time, very interesting tour, wish I had watched this before my visit. Amazing historical building.
I was privileged to get the chance to do that, picking the brains of the driver as he used to be based there before they reorganised. He’s up for retirement next year.
Wel come please subscribe thanks
Fab!!!
Great 👍
Thank you
Hi John, we met you by Ireland's Eye (as seen at 13:40), young family with our son. :)
We certainly did. I remember, quote” We met between the Irish bars”
@@johnbaxter13 I’d have commented sooner but couldn’t remember which shorts I’d put the business card in 🤦🏻♂️ Enjoyed the video 😊
Thank you for the kind comment. Very few people ever comment. Have subscribed to your channel

Nice
Thank you
You showed every business except k&m barbering across the road from Uno momento that has been there since 1998
Love the waves
They are spectacular, even when calm.
Great vlog nice lights this year and ice rink road to 100 subs
We love South Shields and the people. Wife originally from W.Boldon (Keats Avenue). We always came back every year and stay at the Little Haven Hotel. Because of pandemic never got up last year, but hope to make it,still, this year (Nov/Dec.)
I love it! It was nice to meet you! Hope to see you next year!
The pleasure was mine. My lot want to be there next week not next year!!
I should mention that you were the "hardworking staff" in the sports bar
youre wrong, the community school clothing scheme wasnt open yet, its quite good as kids can get cheap or free clothes. wasnt open yet :)
The volunteer who stood next to me as I recorded it said it was operating. He said he “worked there”
@@johnbaxter13 i doubt it, i think it opened 3 month ago, i went in frist day and the woman was getting photos with the gazette, its a generous hsop. it definitely opened in the past 15 weeks max as it was during my holidays which started 15 weeks ago so, you should come back down during christmas, at night ocean road looks beautiful
@@WILLFACTOR11 my only comment on that picture was that it was a sign of the times. A lot of other places have the same idea, uniform swap/ supply for schools. I make no comment about whether it is open or not
@@johnbaxter13 oh dude i wasnt arguing sorry if that came across, i loved the video
Good one John.
I always like to do my best
Thank you John, the reason I ask is I'm thinking of relocating back up the north east now I am semi retired.....trying to get as much info as I can about Seaham area. I came up to Seaham just before the virus in my camper van and was impressed . I may think about renting first before I buy. Thanks David.
Seaham has a huge community spirit, a left over from the old coal industry days, recent events have shown that with food banks being established. The place has its problems, but we are getting there.
What is Seaham like as a place to live. Thanks Dave.
It’s a town in change. There are lots of new developments planned, and a complete “village” planned for land south of the town. It is slowly being converted into a tourist area, but all this ongoing, and trying to retain its quaint link with the past
That day I split my knee open there
